I’ve been thinking about a thanksgiving prayer…

Nov 15, 2020

And this is the confidence that we have toward Him, that if we ask anything according to His will He hears us. And if we know that He hears us in whatever we ask, we know we have the requests that we have asked of Him.
I John 5:14-15 ESV

O LORD BRING US TOGETHER!

O Lord bring us together in love for You! We desire to be transformed by the renewing of our minds. Show us Your good, acceptable, and perfect will (Romans 12:2). You have promised to strengthen us, help us, and uphold us with Your righteous right hand (Isaiah 41:10). You pour Your mercy and grace upon us in our time of need (Hebrews 4:16). When we lack wisdom, You graciously share Your wisdom without blame or scolding (James 1:5). You can be trusted with our welfare. You give us a future and a hope (Jeremiah 29:11). You are working everything for good (Romans 8:28)! Since our citizenship is in heaven, we joyfully anticipate the day we will see our Savior face-to-face (Philippians 3:20).

O Lord bring us together in love for each other! Jesus modeled how to love others (John 13:34). A disciple is not above his teacher—we understand we are being trained to be like Him (Luke 6:40). Love is the secret to binding us together in perfect harmony (Colossians 3:14). Keep us focused on loving earnestly, since love covers a multitude of sins (1 Peter 4:8). Help us be kind to one another, tenderhearted, forgiving one another, as You in Christ have forgiven us (Ephesians 4:32). Help us outdo one another in showing honor (Romans 12:10).

O Lord bring us together in love for the church! We are Your field, Your building (1 Corinthians 3:9). By one Spirit we were all baptized into one body and we all were made to drink of one Spirit (1 Corinthians 12:13). Help us seek humility and unity of mind, sympathy, brotherly love, and tender hearts (1 Peter 3:8). Help us serve one another, as good stewards of Your grace (1 Peter 4:10). Stir us up to do good works, not neglecting to meet together, but encouraging one another, and all the more as we see the Day drawing near (Hebrews 10:24-25).

O Lord bring us together in love for the world! Help us love in a way that will draw many more to You (John 17:23) Give us the privilege of demonstrating that love does no wrong to a neighbor (Romans 13:10). We humbly ask that many in our world today would turn from their wicked ways. Please, Lord, hear our prayers, forgive our sin, and heal our land (2 Chronicles 7:14). Even though there is much tribulation in this world, we take heart, for Jesus has overcome the world (John 16:33). And nothing is impossible for You (Luke 1:37)!!! Amen.
