I’ve been thinking about if not now, when…

Feb 1, 2022

“Remember not the former things, nor consider the things of old. Behold, I am doing a new thing; now it springs forth, do you not perceive it? I will make a way in the wilderness and rivers in the desert.”
Isaiah 43:18-19 (ESV)

If not now…when?

A friend shared these verses with me at the turn of the year in January. I was immediately challenged to stop dwelling on past events and brooding over days gone by—but instead to replace them with new thoughts—thoughts generated by the hopeful anticipation of a brand new thing God is going to do in my life. The time is right—the time is now!

If not this…what?

Reflecting on my life now, I could see it was time for a change. Yes, my life was beautiful, comfortable, and quiet but I had also lost the sense of adventure that has always permeated my spiritual life behind the scenes. I looked closer and noticed something was indeed happening already. I can see it now! God was bringing His will into focus—directing us forward through key details that I had simply overlooked. I began eagerly anticipating new miracles that God has promised will overshadow the old. What exactly was coming—and how big would it be?

If not here…where?

The context of these verses is a victory over Pharaoh’s crack chariot troops at the Red Sea. God proved then and to every generation since then that He is the Giver of a way in the sea and the Creator of a path through mighty waters. He did it at the Exodus and He can do it today because He is that kind of God!

Where am I to go, Lord, and what am I to do?

This spring we are moving into Westminster Village in Scottsdale. Why? Because living there provides opportunities to divide the work and share the load—as well as a myriad of ways to deeply love and care for others. We thank God for the privilege of loving with all our hearts—and for the quality of life that follows—for every bit of love we give away is transformed and returns to fill us with the deepest satisfaction and joy that life has to offer.

My child, open your heart to this new adventure! You are My instrument. Go and love!
