I’ve been thinking about influence…

Jul 1, 2016

For it is written, “As I live, says the Lord, every knee shall bow to me, and every tongue shall confess to God.” So then each of us will give an account of himself to God.
Romans 14:11-12 ESV

It has been said that every action touches some chord that will vibrate in eternity. If that is the case, and based on Romans 14:11-12, I believe that choices matter and the lives we touch and how we touch them matters even more than we know.

There is a principal within the universe that goes something like this: the more we focus on our unique purpose and contribution influence grows. Our contribution is recognized, not because we are trying to impress, but because we are good at what we do—we have a passion for it and we are continually improving our skills.

When our contribution is excellent and honorable character supports it, others who are watching are inspired to follow our example. This is good news, because one day when they stand before God and give an account of their lives, they will not be ashamed.

Who is watching you? Would you agree that you have influence over them? Would you also agree that the greatest likeness to Christ will have the greatest effect on them?

The bottom line about influence is that as we inspire others, we cause them to aspire to excellence in contribution and character. This constitutes the best kind of influence we can have over them and when they, in turn, influence others there will be plenty of good vibrations in eternity!
